Heritage Ecological currently hold an SNH Scotland-wide Licence to allow survey and assessment of freshwater pearl mussel.

Our team have over 10 years’ experience of surveying for the species in major rivers and catchments throughout Scotland, including the Glass, Moriston, Spey, Tay, and Tummel.

Freshwater pearl mussel population assessments inform on EcIAs for wind farms, hydro schemes and small projects, such as bridge upgrades and croy repairs.
