HEL has provided an Environmental Clerk of Works (ECoW) service for four sections and phases of the ground investigations projects for the A9 Dualling, one of Scotland’s largest transport infrastructure programmes.
For these projects HEL’s ecology team provided day-to-day recommendations of mitigation in relation to the planned works. These recommendations were developed following survey of the works’ areas for protected species, including European Protected Species (EPS), breeding birds, reptiles and amphibians, in addition to identifying sensitive habitats such as blank bog, peatland and other valuable wetlands.
HEL provided consultation with Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) for Natura 2000 sites associated with the various sections, including for the River Spey and Insh Marshes SAC, Drummochter Hills SSSI/SAC and the River Tay SAC.
