Ornithological Survey and Assessment

Heritage Ecological's in-house team of ornithological specialists perform a range of bird surveys. These include breeding and wintering bird surveys for a number of purposes, including EcIAs, site audits and to inform management plans.

With particular relevance to wind farm, studies we undertake targeted vantage point watches and species specific surveys. Data is used to complete assessments for EcIAs and ES chapters and includes collision modelling and assessment of disturbance and displacement. Results are also used to allow us to undertake Habitats Regulations Appraisals to inform on potential effects on SPAs.

All of our surveyors possess SNH licences to undertake survey and assessment of Schedule I birds.
